1. Listen carefully.

Always listen carefully to the other people and pay your full attention towards them. Don’t split your attention to somewhere else as the person will quickly realize that you are not listening properly.

2. Understand Exactly.

Understand what other people are trying to say. Sometimes people are not able to convey the right message because they don't get the right words.  So, put them on ease by understanding the essence of their message and show them that you understand properly and exactly.

3 Maintain Eye-Contact

You've heard of it over and over. It doesn't mean that you need to "stare" eye-to-eye, that would make you a psycho! You only need to give a simple "look" towards him/her. That's all!

4. Ask For Clarification.

Always ask for the Clarification if you are not able to understand what he/she wants to tell you. Ask the corresponding question for further clarification or else it will create confusion.

5. Don’t Talk while Angry.

Don’t talk while you are angry or the other person is angry as the communication will be spoiled because anger can destroy and ruin not only the conversation but the social relations too.

6. Don’t Talk Excess.

Stop talking excessively as the people don’t like those who don’t listen to the others not giving any chance for the others to speak. Let it be an exchange of thoughts and ideas and don't be a chatterbox.

7. Don't Interrupt

Keep patience while another person is speaking to you and let him finish first then you should start speaking or else there will be no result at the end of the communication if both parties will be speaking at the same time.

8. Don’t Criticize.

Never criticize others because when you criticize the others you will not be able to develop and maintain positive relationship because others will not show the interest in communicating with you. If you need to criticize then don't do it in the public.

9. Speak Clearly.

If someone tells you "sorry?" or "I didn't get you" or "can you please repeat" then you have a problem with your pitch or tempo. Either you are making squeaky noises or you are talking in a haste. So, improve your pitch and pace and speak neither ultra slowly nor much rapidly. Maintain pitch and pace in communication. It will help you to speak clearly.

10. Show Some Interest.

Always show your honest interest in the communication or else the other person will not be interested in communicating with you now and again.
