The Power of Impulse Dominance (The time when i was robbed) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rick Van Collie

One thing had greatly bamboozled me in the past and that had been "Impulse Dominance"

But what the hack is impulse dominance? In short I'll describe it as:

"A feature found in an individual that leaves the counterpart totally stunned, helpless and almost hypnotized"

It has two parties involved

  • The enforcer of the impulse dominance aka dominator
  • The poor victim of the impulse dominance aka dominated

I'm sure that at some point in your life, you must have done something or taken a decision due to pressure or presence of someone although you didn't want to or you were not totally convinced. It just happened! you felt like he almost hypnotized you to his will.

Well, I'll share a story with you that happened with me and a friend of mine.

The Story goes like:

Dominator: A merchant
Dominated/victim : Rick Van Collie and a friend

Some months back,

I went camping with a few friends. In the midst of our way to the destination we found a little town and decided to have a break. I decided to take a little stroll with my friend. Subsequently, we were wandering the streets and looking at the new places.

After some minutes of walk we stumbled upon a tiny shop in the corner of a street which didn't seem to be 'full of life' as compared to the others. I saw its owner, he must have been a man in the middle 30s. He didn't seem very talkative (or else you know merchants)

That was actually a handicraft shop. We tried many things from there (No intentions of buying) but when we were giving 'em a shot, the merchant was grave silent. Words barely came out of his mouth. Then I stumbled upon a very simple round cap and thought about giving it a shot (Still no intentions of buying.)

I tried the cap and looked into the mirror. Then the merchant broke his silence but still words came out of his mouth at a minimal rate.

Then he did something strange, he established an eye contact. He gave quite sharp and cold looks and said "this one looks good".

I had no intentions of buying but when this happened, I don't know why, I asked him the price. He told me that it costs 50 bucks

Without any further queries, I took the money and handed over to him and purchased the cap. Not just me but my friend also faced the same fate.

After 30 minutes i realized:

  • The cap was ugly.
  • It didn't even fit (it was really small.)
  • The cap was literally nothing but a piece of cloth.
  • I and my friend gave away 50 bucks for a piece of cloth each.
  • I was robbed.

Then a gigantic amount of frustration and anger surrounded my mind which led to the rise of some serious burning question like:

  • How did I purchase an ugly cap while I have a very narrow range of choices?
  • How did I settle way below my set of standards?

More importantly

  • What did the merchant do to virtually hypnotize then manipulate me to his will?
  • Why couldn't I resist the idea although I was not convinced enough to buy that?
  • Why did I act like a total idiot?

There was one answer to all the question. And that was...Voodoo Impulse Dominance.

What the Hack!

Well, I noticed a few things about him

  • He didn't let himself to be recognized as a wimp from the very beginning.
  • He didn't talk garbage.
  • He was confident all the time and the same was reflected by his body language.
  • He knew what-to-do, when-to-do and how-to-do i.e The methodology

This is the power of impulse dominance. He knew he won’t have all the time in the world to first build some rapport, credibility, trust and blah blah blah.

Apparently, he enforced dominance at a tremendous magnitude all in sudden which subsequently left me pathetic and helpless.

Now I know how salesmen rob people! (Oh Shit)
